Denbigh
Dinbych

Denbigh's history goes back to the 11th century.  A small border town, Denbigh (or Dinbych in Welsh meaning 'Little Fort') grew to become one of the most important and prosperous market towns in Wales. The fortress at Denbigh was built by King Edward 1st. It is one of a ring of castles built to subdue the Welsh.  Among the others are the two walled towns of  Caernarfon, and  Conwy , both of whom are members of the Walled Towns Friendship Circle. Along with Chester the three towns have joined together to form the 'Four Towns WTFC Link.'

The four towns hold a series of events. Among them are a vintage car rally, golf match, concerts and much more. This year's golf match was held Denbigh (2001). Denbigh were also this years winners.

During August 2002 the town was visited by thousands of visitors to National Eisteddfod. It is a great honour to host this unique Welsh cultural event.  The four towns took the opportunity to show some of their activities as well as promoting the Walled Towns Friendship Circle.
