Visby
Visby has been a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1995. It is
located on the island of Gotland in the Baltic. It is just 28 miles from
Stockholm. Swedish since 1645. Previously it was a centre of World Trade
during the Viking period. It has one of best preserved medieval walls in
Europe A walled city with 29 big groundtowers. You can still see 27. Also
9 sadeltowers are still erect. These stand between the ground
towers. |
